There's not a lot of variety in the way videogames present science fiction. For various reasons, game designers prefer to stick with what people already know. This means Star Wars, Blade Runner, and Aliens. The reluctance to go to unfamiliar places has been part of why there's an oppressive sameness to videogaming in general, and sci-fi videogames in particular. Where is videogaming's sci-fi with a twist? Where are our Gattaca, Dark City, Clockwork Orange, and Wall-E?
