But while selling hardware is key to why Nintendo is making record profits while Sony and Microsoft struggle to break even, long-term success for the console requires people to actually play the Wii on a regular basis, and that is something Sega doesn't think is happening at the moment.

I think the Wii is definitely acting as a kind of introduction to gaming and will in effect help the industry as a whole for years to come. However, it will also likely change the industry at the same time, meaning casual gaming becomes the norm and motion-sensing controllers also become common."

Considering the key market, I sort-of agree with the statement.
Not that board games are bad, mind you.

Not really related, but I was at EB at Melbourne Central earlier today with my sister today and my sister noticed Wii Monopoly on the shelf.
Sister: "Ah, Wii Monopoly... Why not just buy the board game?"
