Wii Fit: Unstoppable(UK)
Wii Fit is STILL top of the UK charts at the time of going to press, holding off the challenge of every other game on the market for the seventh week in a row. In total, its the sixteenth week it has been declared the UK's top selling game, and joins mario kart wii, mario and sonic at the olympic games, Professor Layton and wii play in the top ten. When will Nintendo's domination end?
Here's A New One(UK)
A neuroscientist has suggested a new reason for the current worldwide banking crisis: Videogames. In an admittedly tongo-in-cheek article, Susan Greenfield, a specialist in brain physiology and consciousness, puts forward the theory that bankers who have grown up playing videogames are less averse to risk-taking and are therefore more reckless in their dealings. It's all due to prefrontal cortex development or something.
I say thats a load of nonsence
In Nintendo We Trust(USA)
According to american buisiness publication Forbes, Nintendo is one of the most reputable and trustworthy componies in the world. Forbes' annual list measures a compony's reputation reputation around the globe according to the opinions of experts and the public. Nintendo came sixth, beating all other gaming companies, but could not beat top firm and serial diplomat spoilers Ferrero.
In Rude Health(JAPAN)
A number of Japenese games companies have been restricting the number or overseas trips they send employees on in a bid to prevent the spread of swine flu through their ranks. Because Japan is a relatively small county with a very high population density, both the government and media have been understandably cautious ahead of E3.
Lets hope it all fizzles out soon.
High Five!(JAPAN)
Several reports on the web have stated that one out of every five japenese people now own a DS, following the release of Nintendo's sales statistics. That's 20 per cent of the Japenese population as a whole, not just japenese gamers. Bonkers. To give you some comparioson, that figure is just a shade under 10 per cent in both the US and Europe. Which we'd say is still pretty high.
